The agribusiness and food systems cluster moves beyond traditional research to help translate agricultural potential into jobs, incomes, enterprise growth and resilient food systems. It bridges the gap between evidence and action by generating practical ideas and working with government, the private sector and development partners to move promising solutions toward policy adoption, financing, implementation and scale.
The industrialisation, trade and investments cluster supports in-country thrust towards accelerated structural transformation and inclusive economic growth through the promotion of industrialisation, enhanced trade performance, and increased domestic and foreign investment. It supports the design and implementation of coherent industrial, trade, and investment policies that strengthen productive capacity, foster value addition/value chain development, and improve competitiveness across priority sectors, including manufacturing, agro-processing and mining.
Economic modelling and policy advisory strengthens evidence-based policymaking and economic governance by developing and institutionalising robust economic modelling and analytical frameworks. It supports the design, calibration, and application of macroeconomic, econometric, and computable general equilibrium models to assess policy options, simulate reform scenarios, and generate forward-looking economic forecasts.
The climate resilience, livelihoods and inclusive development cluster strengthens climate resilience and promotes inclusive, sustainable livelihoods by developing relevant strategies and policy recommendations that enhance the adaptive capacity of vulnerable populations, ecosystems, and institutions. It supports the design and implementation of climate-resilient development strategies, integrating climate risk assessments into national, sub-national, and local planning processes.
